We recently hosted a visit from Michael VanMeter from the group of Prof. Gorbunova View. Michael’s visit was sponsored by the UK Science and Innovation Network as part of their UK-US Synthetic Biology Collaboration Development Award. Michael was working with us to integrate the hydrogel technology with his hyaluronan project.
Since September 2014 Cathy has taken study leave to work with Prof. Lena Kjellen’s group in IMBIM, Uppsala University View.
While in Uppsala Cathy will be working to combine the various GAG-synthetic mutant mouse ES cell lines in functional studies as well as further developing the hydrogels for displaying ECM-derived motifs. Cathy’s teaching at Manchester will be covered by Dr Olga Tsigkou, funded by an international fellowship from The Leverhulme Trust.
We had a get-together of lab members past and present before Cathy left for Sweden, it was great fun and clearly demonstrated what a productive lab we have been in recent years.
